| The Alliance
Française of Hawaii does not maintain a school of its own. For members
who would like to study French, we suggest several different possibilities.
Accredited teacher for the Alliance Française of Hawaii "Ecole du Samedi" Regis ROLANDO, is a native French speaker. Education: PhD (ABD) in English form La Sorbonne, Master in French from the University of Hawaii (High Honors). Teaching since 1995 he will teach you or your children. For private lessons please contact him at (808) 398-4188 or via e-mail sonocorso@hotmail.com We direct students who wish to study in a regular school environment to Magda Alexander at Academia Language School (946-5599). Magda, a former Alliance Française teacher, has agreed to give AFH members a 10% discount for as long as they study French at her school. Other students who would like to study with an accredited teacher, but in a less formal environment, may wish to attend our new Saturday morning drop-in classes, coordinated by Christie Bridges (941-8369). Classes will be held on the first and third Saturday of each month at Mocha Java Café in Ward Centre. The cost for a one-hour lesson, including instructional handouts, will be $10 for members, $12 for non-members. L’école du samedi features self-contained lessons designed to make learning French fun while immersing students in French culture, challenging them to review, practice, and expand their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. For those seeking a tutor or instructor, David Berger, a native French speaker, offers full-time private French instruction in Honolulu. You can reach David at (808) 927-1342 or via e-mail davidberger@earthlink.net It’s important for our Alliance to be flexible enough to offer our members a variety of exciting and different options. We hope we can continue to meet the needs of our members as we fulfill our mission of promoting the French language and culture.
